Conscious Theatre Synopsis - January 2009
WARNINGS FROM THE WILD
Nature seems to have given us all the warnings we need. Floods, mudslides and windstorms are all getting more frequent. Science cannot say to what extent we humans are responsible for this. But it does not have to. Indeed it would be irresponsible to wait for absolute scientific proof.
Parece que la naturaleza nos ha dado todas las advertencias que necesitamos. Inundaciones y tormentas de viento son cada vez más frecuentes. La ciencia no puede decir en qué medida los humanos son responsables de esto. Tampoco tiene que hacerlo. De hecho, sería irresponsable esperar la absoluta prueba científica.
LA VITA E’ BELLA (LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL)
Life Is Beautiful (Italian: La vita è bella) is a film which tells the story of a Jewish Italian, Guido Orefice (played by Roberto Benigni, who also directed and co-wrote the film), who must learn how to use his fertile imagination to help his son survive their internment in a Nazi concentration camp.

Is Chuyia really destined to live the rest of her life as a widow among shunned widows?

Bernardo Bertolucci attempts to mix Buddhist spirituality with childhood fantasy in Little Buddha. The movie is a story of a child who could be a probable reincarnation of the Dalai Lama.

Hell wants him. Heaven won't take him. Earth needs him... The wager between heaven and hell is on Earth. John Constantine (Keanu) is a world-travelling, who investigates supernatural mysteries and the like, walking a thin line between evil and good. Constantine then teams up with a female police detective, Angela(Weisz), who seeks Constantine's help while investigating the suicide-like death of her twin sister.

MATRIX
"Computer programmer Thomas A. Anderson leads a secret life as a hacker under the alias "Neo". He wishes to learn the answer to the question, "What is the Matrix?" Cryptic messages appearing on his computer monitor and an encounter with several sinister agents leads him to a group led by the mysterious Morpheus, a man who offers him the chance to learn the truth about the Matrix. Neo accepts by swallowing an offered red pill, and abruptly wakes up naked in a liquid-filled pod, his body connected by wires to a vast mechanical tower covered with identical pods...."
THE CORPORATION
"The film charts the development of the corporation as a legal entity from its origins as an institution chartered by governments to carry out specific public functions, to the rise of the vast modern institutions entitled to some of the legal rights of a person. One central theme of the documentary is an attempt to assess the "personality" of the corporate "person" by using diagnostic criteria from the DSM-IV. Robert Hare, a University of British Columbia Psychology Professor and FBI consultant, compares the profile of the modern, profit-driven corporation to that of a clinically-diagnosed psychopath. The film focuses mostly on corporations in North America, especially in the United States."

La corporación
El film guia el desarrollo de la corporación como una legal entidad desde su origen como una institución guiada por gobiernos para cumplir funciones publicas especificas, para el aumento de las enormes instituciones modernas con derecho sobre los derechos legales de una persona, uno de los temas centrales del documental es el intento de calcular la perosnalidad de la persona de la corporación usando el criterio de diagnostico de la DSM-IV. Robert Hare, un universitario dela British Columbia Psychology, profesor y asesor del FBI, compara el perfil del moderno, ganancias manejadas a esto de una clínicamente diagnosticada Psicopatia. El film hace foco mayormente en las corporaciones de norte america, especialmente en los estados unidos.

The jungle book (El libro de la selva) - Moderator P. Giriraj
"Jungle Book tells the story of a young boy Mowgli who was raised by animals in the jungle. When tiger Shere Khan threatens to return to their part of the jungle, the other animals decide that Mowgli must return to the man village in order to ensure his safety. Panther Bagheera has difficulty convincing Mowgli to follow him to the man village and recruits the help of a big lovable bear Baloo. Mowgli's journey is one of wit, song, and many surprises."
El libro de la jungla
cuenta la historia de un niño, Mowgli, que fue criado por animales en la jungla. Cuando el Tigre Shere Khan amenaza con retornar a esa parte de la jungla, el resto de animales, deciden que el ninio Mowgli, debe retornar al lugar donde viven los hombres, para que estuviera mas seguro, la pantera Bagheera, tiene mucha dificultad convenciendo al ninio que lo siguiera a la aldea de los hombres y consigue la ayuda del gran amoroso oso Baloo. El viaje de del ninio Mowgli esta lleno de canciones y sorpresas.

What Dreams May Come
Neurologist Chris and artist Annie had the perfect life until they lost their children in an auto accident; they're just starting to recover when Chris meets an untimely death himself. He's met by a messenger named Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and taken to his own personal afterlife--a freshly drawn world reminiscent of Annie's own artwork, still dripping and wet with paint. Meanwhile a depressed Annie takes her own life, compelling Chris to traverse heaven and hell to save Annie from an eternity of despair.
Sueños que se hacen realidad
La pareja de neurólogos Chris y Annie tenían una vida perfecta hasta que pierden a sus hijos en un accidente automovilístico; cuando aún están comenzando a recuperarse, el propio Chris se encuentra con una muerte prematura. Chris es recibido por un mensajero llamado Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.) y es llevado a su propio más allá – un mundo hecho con pinturas frescas reminiscente del propio trabajo artístico de Annie, con pinturas aún mojadas y escurridas. First Vegetarian Cooking Course Report
The first vegetarian cooking course took place last Saturday, July 19th, and gave pleasure to the students and guests that came to visit our center. The course started with a philosophical introduction by our dear Giriraj Prabhu, who spoke about the laws of karma, the relation between the action of eating and the environment, how the type of food we eat directly relates to our states of consciousness, and finally etiquette in a conscious kitchen.
Then the chef took the stand and she spoke, not with words, but with pots, pans, and various vegetables, resulting in a sumptuous feast. The students learned how easy it could be to cook a more than satisfying full course vegetarian meal.
After the Lord had enjoyed all the finest preparations, everyone enjoyed these now spiritualized food stuffs called prasadam! The recipe used in this cooking class is available on this website, under the Mother Bhakti Recipes link.

Conscious Theatre is a laboratory where anyone can dive deep into himself with the help of video projections and debates on important messages like ecology, consumerism, health, knowledge of the being, etc., with the purpose of making a an "inner consciousness journey". El Cine Conciente es un taller donde todos pueden sumergirse profundamente en su interior, con la ayuda de proyecciones de video y debates de mensajes importantes como la ecología, el consumismo, la salud, el conocimiento del ser, etc, con el propósito de hacer un "viaje interior en la conciencia". The themes of the first series of the Conscious Theatre will be “vegetarianism: a revolution of consciousness.” The first movie we will watch is “Animal Farm,” based on Orwell’s satirical novel about totalitarianism. Then we will watch “Meat is Weak,” a documentary that shows us the myths surrounding meat eating, and the reality that exists behind the walls of today’s slaughterhouses. The third film of this series will be “Chicken Run,” which details the adventures of a chicken in search of freedom. To close, we will watch “Earthlings,” a documentary that will capture our consciousness, point out the profound impact in our life caused by an attitude that, grossly or subtly, almost every human being is manifesting: speciesism.
The movies will be played in our center every Wednesday at 7:30PM. Hoping you will enjoy these movies, we invite you to come and participate in building a community based on the motto “simple living, high thinking.”
